Huge Awesomeness Report...HUGE!
Alright kids, first I want to say that I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and that Santa was kind, etc. etc. But really, let's get down to business, there are several and by several I mean many,MANY things to discuss. I wasn't planning on writing a new blog now,but the Hollywood gods have been ridiculously kind, so I figured I would bring you as much news/almost news/mainly opinions that I could, please enjoy!
INDIANA JONES 4 SETS UP SHOP! For real, this is maybe more exciting than Harry Potter news (which I'll get to later) but for right now it looks like the fourth installment of Indiana Jones is really going to get going...or maybe it's just a New Year's Resolution that George Lucas really means to keep, but just can't end up doing it. But let's hope that it's the real deal-y-yo. According to JoBlo.com and the Assosicated Press and three other websites and my friend Chris...the script has been approved (FINALLY!), Spielberg will be directing again and it should be out in May 2008, but again, these are all just rumors...still I hope I got your hopes up as high as mine! I can't wait to see the hat and the whip and a crazy villain one more time...I know Harrison has it in him...I just wonder, will they want some younger blood as a co-star and if so, who do they turn to? Maybe Hayden Christensen needs some work, I'm sure the Darth Vader thing has worn off by now! Let me know what you think!
Harry Potter News! Ok, according, again, to Mugglenet.com as well as more reputable news sources, the 7th book has finally been named"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" and you can pre-order the book at your chosen book distribution center. There is no official release date yet, but I feel like it's very possible that 2007 might just be Harry's year, considering that Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is also getting released this year (July 13th). I can't really talk any more about this stuff because I'm way too excited about it and would end up going on and on about the conspiracy theories on the website, Harry's possible demise, and about a million other things, but I won't. I just thought you should know what's up...and that Daniel Radcliffe is extremely adorable...yeah, that's about it for the subject.
Movie Previews 2007: I hate and love this time of year. Like I've said in previous blogs, the end of the year means Oscar-caliber movies, which definitely rocks! On the crap side, it also means that January and February and March are coming and that the movie studios have put away their blazing guns for three months. The first of the year always means forgettable movies...sometimes enjoyable, but overall forgettable... I mean really did you remember that V for Vendetta came out this year? No, and now Natalie Portman is asking herself..."did I shave my head for that..really?!"
Anyway, www.JoBlo.com had a Warner Brothers 2007 movie Preview list, which can be found here but I'll list a few of the ones that I'll definitely be seeing.
Music and Lyrics (Drew Barrymore/Hugh Grant romantic comedy released on Valentines day...all together now "awwwww")
300- I've listed it before and everyone who reads this better not say I didn't tell them it was going to be awesome (from the people who brought you Sin City, releasing in March)
Lucky You and TMNT (That's right, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, turtles in a half shell...turtle power!...sorry i couldn't resist! Both out in march!)
License to Wed - Let's not lie, it's really just because of John Krasinski! (July release date)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (self-explanatory really, and if it's not, read the book! July release date)
And the rest look intriguing as well, and George Clooney will probably get another award nomination...but these are the ones I'll be waiting for!
Out of curiosity, I checked the other movie companies to sneak a peek at their upcoming rosters as well, and here's what I came up with:
Paramount Pictures:
Zodiac (Jake Gyllenhaal returns with a thriller about the 70s serial killer who's never been caught by the way)
Shooter ( More info here, thanks to imdb.com)
Transformers (people are chomping at the bit for this one...and by people I mean mostly dungeon masters and comic-con diehards, but it'll be fun to see what's done to the 80s icons)
Shrek the Third
Norbit (Eddie Murphy in a not-technically Nutty Professor role...but pretty much...)
New Line Cinemas (clearly the short end of the stick)
Code Name: The Cleaner- Cedric the Entertainer, and Lucy Liu (January release date)
The Number 23- which looks very intriguing, kind of like Pi with Jim Carrey (a little darker than we're used to)
Rush Hour 3- I don't really need to say more do I?
Although here's the kicker and I salute New Line for this: His Dark Materials: The Golden Compass (this is another one I've mentioned before, it's the first movie, taken from the first book in a trilogy by Philip Pullman and it'll be starring Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman, and released in November will make a fine kickoff to the holiday season...hopefully...but again READ THE BOOKS, they're fantastic!)
Before I continue, at what could be ridiculous length about the 2007 releases, www.Wikipedia.com has a pretty staunch listing that can be found if you click here ! Really there's a ton, so I'll be super busy, and keeping you up to date on the latest releases as well as I can!
